Why Combining Personal Training and Physical Therapy Could Be the Ultimate Fitness Solution

Updated: Dec 31

Welcome everyone

to my first blog post with Garage Training & Rehab Gym! Some of you might already know me from being my patient or personal training client. Some are my valued colleagues from over 20 years in the Health and Fitness Industries! I value you all of my past patients & clients and anyone new to me.

Many people are thrown off a bit when I tell them that I took a break from Healthcare and I'm now working with people in my garage of all places! Some wonder how Medicare covers you. To that question, I no longer work with insurance companies and keep it simple with cash-pay services. It is fairly new to the field of Physical Therapy to have a cash-pay program. In the world of Personal Training, cash pay is not a new concept.

Providing both Physical Therapy and Training in a garage?

I had many forms of inspiration but I have had my gym in my garage since my daughter was about 2 years old. I no longer had time to work and then show up in a gym to get exercise. My garage had a place for her with colored tiles toys and safety barriers. She loved it and I did too! I was able to work out while she played, showing her an example of placing my health as a priority.

Over time, as a working mother, it made a difference being able to sometimes almost crawl out of bed and show up in my gym. It made a difference when I was injured from my recreational activities or work specifically as an Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapist. It made a difference in my mental health and working through burnout. This was evident when I took a break from Healthcare. I had to work hard to recover from the physical and mental symptoms of burnout. Once again, having my gym gave me the space to do that. Now I can share this space with all of you!

Garage Training & Rehab Gym

It took a lot of research and time to start Garage Training & Rehab Gym. It is now a place for you to find your path moving forward. You may have the garage door down, or up to feel the outdoor breeze and hear the birds in the nearby trees. Either way, let's work together to make it your place in the moment, to focus on what you need.
